The Cypress College athletics have had a successful season with men’s and women’s basketball continuing their season on top until February. The women’s volleyball team finished the season strong by competing in the CCCAA State Championship Quarter Finals this past November.
Men’s soccer had a challenging season, struggling to win more than a couple games this year. The team’s overall score for the season was 2-18. Bill Pinkham, the Athletics Director of Cypress College, announced the team will be under leadership of new head coach Cristian Rus. With this change, perhaps Chargers men’s soccer will have a stronger season once back on the field.
As for women’s soccer, the females were victorious with an overall score of 10-7-5 during regular season and placed 4th in the Orange Empire Conference. Freshman Audree Campos and freshman Morgan Patea were presented with All-Orange Empire Conference First Team honors. Teammates on the field Taleah Carter, freshman, and Jordan Barber, freshman, were given honors of All-Orange Empire Conference Second Team.
Chargers women’s volleyball was impressive this season with nineteen wins and nine losses. The athletes won the first two rounds of post season but fell short in the CCCAA State Championship Quarter Finals. This accomplishment may pave the way to spike the competition next season.

Cypress College men’s and women’s basketball continues into next year until February, so far both teams have been victorious. The men’s team has an overall score of 5-2, while the women’s team has an overall score of 4-4. Once the women athletes gain a win, the sports teams will be dribbling with success.
